The Baltimore Transit Company (BTC) was a private operator of buses and trolleys in the metropolican Baltimore area between 1935-1990. It succeeded the United Railways & Electric Company, which operated these services from 1899-1935. The BTC was acquired by a public entity, the Metropolitan Transit Authority, in 1990, which has run buses and trams ever since. For auction is a common stock certificate from the BTC dated March 23, 1971, for 5 shares. It measures appx 12x8 inches and is printed on heavy paperstock. This certificate is in excellent condition, with no rips or tears, no cancellation punch holes. All writing/markings are from its issuance and processing.
