Vintage 1950s-1960s Greyhound Lines Coast to Coast Blue Badge Pin E501
Vintage Framed English Print —- 1910 LONDON GENERAL OMNIBUS COMPANY’S ‘B’ TYPE MOTOR BUS —– DRAWN BY DAVID J. TRUSSLER PUBLISHED BY HUGH EVELYN All of the art work and collectibles being sold by Adams-Byrd Fine Art & Antiques have been collected and selected one at a time by the proprietor, an art historian with many years of training and experience in university art history departments, museums, galleries, and historic sites both in the U.S. and abroad. The business has been based in the Washington, D.C. area for many years. The art and collectibles that we are offering to eBay buyers are special and unique pieces that have been carefully “curated” by us. This vintage framed English print is colorful wall decor for the transportation collector interested in early 20th century public transportation. This brightly colored motor bus includes orange, yellow / amber, greens (light and dark), black gray and white. The number on the bus is B340. On the orange side it says GENERAL In addition to route stops, the bus decor includes advertisements for OAKEY’S WELLINGTON KNIFE POLISH and “Iron Jelloids FOR WEAKNESS”. On one small panel on the side it reads — LONDON GENERAL OMNIBUS COMPANY WILLIAM EDWARD MANDERLICK SECRETARY – BUSINESS MANAGER; farther to the right it reads — SPEED – 12 M.P.H. On each of the tires you can read DUNLOP (and other numbers and words). Some of the words included in the stop / places on the SERVICE 11 bus route are: SHEPHERDS, LiVERPOOL, HAMMERSMITH, WALHAM, VICTORIA, WESTMINSTER, STRAND, LUDGATE, CIRCUS, etc. ……………. This illustration of early 20th century urban public transportation is very detailed. The elegant wood frame (black and gold) has condition issues — chips, scratches, dings, etc. from age and handling. There are also some faint spots on the white paper of the vintage print and / or on the underside of the non-glare glass. Our photos make the spots look much worse than they actually look in “real life”. This transportation collectible was photographed outside. Even though there is non-glare (rather than regular) glass, reflections and glare do interfere with photo quality! The old label on the back from where it was once sold is quite interesting. It is from a FINE ART TRADE GUILD merchant : ESTABLISHED 1880 A. E. TUNLEY & SON LTD. DECORATORS’ MERCHANTS PICTURE FRAMERS FINE ART PRINTS ARTISTS’ COLOURMEN 12 & 13, GLOUCESTER STREET, MILFORD STREET & FLEET STREET, SWINDON. Tel. 22152 [Swindon is in Wiltshire, England.)
